The Glavinitsa municipality is situated in the northeastern part of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is on the territory of the District of Silistra.
Glavinitsa is the youngest town in the region. It occupies an area of 507 sq. m and is an important centre on the road between Doulovo and Toutrakan. It was proclaimed a town and a municipal centre with a decree of the State Council of 5 September 1984.
There are a lot of legends and memories, but very little material evidence of the past of the Glavinitsa region. Thracians and Romans inhabited in antiquity, and Bulgarians, Turks and Circassians - millennia later.
There are good conditions for country tourism in the village of Malak Preslavets. The holiday base near the interesting Malak Preslavets Swamp, which is covered with white water-lilies.

There are Community Centers in all settlements in the municipality - 23 in number . There are 18 artificial lakes and a marsh as well.
The marsh was announced for protected area in 2004 by the Minister of Environment. Its east side is neighboring on agricultural lands , its south end is traced out by mixed wood , to the west there is a dike , which separates it from the river , and the north side is traced out by a road that leads from a village to the port . The marsh has a total area of 38.5 hectare . It is necessary to draw attention to its structure which is very much alike Srebarna Lake , which in 1977 UNESCO announced it as a reserve with world significance.
