It has a police station with 17 people personnel, a working school, a bakery, tailoring workshop, dairy. There is an annual folklore festival which is gathering people and artists from the whole country. The village is located on the shortest road connecting the ferryboat in Nikopol (the Danube River, bordering with Romania), Veliko Turnovo, then the biggest pass in the Balkan Mountain and the whole country (The Pass of The Republic) and respectively to Greece and Turkey. The District Pleven Region encompasses the central part of the Danube Plain and a section of the fore-Balkan Mountains. There are deposits of natural oil and gas near the town of Dolni Dubnik and the village of Gigen. The Romans constructed roads, roadside transit stations and fortresses throughout the region; the ruins of the ancient Roman fortress of Ulpia Escus can be visited near Gigen. Tsar Shishman’s Fortress in Nikopol reminds of no less turbulent period of the Middle Age.
